A look at the preseason top 25

Post by historybill »

Kentucky was number 4, Arkansas number 10, Tennessee number 11 and Auburn number 15.

Good God.

Vanderbilt is a combined 5-2 against these 4 teams and now has MORE SEC WINS THAN ALL four of them.

Maybe this "Vanderbilt is not in the tourney" crap goes back further, to win everyone made assumptions about who was going to be good in November?

Tennessee, with 10 losses, has dropped all the way to #4 in the NET. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt has climbed only to #79.

Im sure my thoughts are generational to a point. But slavish allegiance to computer metrics is absurd in this case. I would wager that the NET somehow magically disappears from the discussion next season. Unfortunately we may still suffer a screwing from it this season.
