SI: VU commit Darren Agu taking official visit to UT this weekend
The 6'6", 235lbs defender has been committed to Vanderbilt since July of this year: however, that has not stopped Tennessee's pursuit of him.
Tennessee coaches, including Rodney Garner and Mike Ekeler, were in-home with him this past week ahead of his official visit.
Tennessee scouted Agu early in the process and has continued to stay in contact with him despite the commitment to Vanderbilt. This weekend's official visit will be key for Tennessee down the stretch if they hope to flip him from his commitment to the Commodores...
Vanderbilt and Clark Lea will get the last crack at him as he will take his final official visit to Nashville next weekend.

If he reads what the Tennessee writer said, I hope he notices the writer did not spell his name correctly. It was "Ago" in one place, rather than Agu. And I don't care if auto-correct did that, you should still proof-read for things like that.
I recall an earlier article talking about Saban calling him. I hope we can hang on to him.

You are right , thefan. I admit to my status as an official old fart, but man I was raised to be careful about giving your word / making a commitment as it meant something.

Did Agu flip?? Or just take a visit?

He did not commit (see tweet below). His Twitter profile still says 100% committed to Vandy. "Thank you for having me, really enjoyed my time" sounds like thanks, but no thanks, to me. According to the article, he will visit officially at Vandy next weekend, the last weekend before signing day.

A bit disturbing to see a Vandy commit decked out in orange puke for the photos. I get it, sign of the times but cringeworthy nevertheless.

Though I hate he took a visit to UTk, I really can't blame him for taking his allotted official visits. I will say this though, if I was in his shoes I think warm weather locations would be on my list of places to visit this time of the year outside of Vandy

i know its early and 12/15 (i think that's the signing day) is a long time away...nevertheless, i'm very pleased with the momentum I'm reading about. Hopefully we'll get a few more positive surprises along with keeping Mr Agu aboard between now and the ides of December.

I asked this question on another thread but seems appropriate here too: it appears that a photo shoot is a routine part of an official visit everywhere?
Can't scamper or slither...but I used to swim.

Agu was originally committed to ND and backed off that commitment over the summer. Hopefully he and CCL have as good of a relationship as it appears at a glance.

Photoshoots in team uniforms are a big part of OVs. It's a rush for the recruits to don uniforms from different universities that want them enough to foot the bill and dedicate resources to their commitment. It also instills a great sense of pride for the parents or guardians to see their sons' hard work and dedication being rewarded by through OVs; and every recruiter will tell you "momma" is the target. You win "momma" and you likely just landed a recruit.FayetteDore wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 12:42 pm I asked this question on another thread but seems appropriate here too: it appears that a photo shoot is a routine part of an official visit everywhere?

If true, I feel like VU should win nearly every recruiting battle with UT.DivergentDore wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 1:46 pm …every recruiter will tell you "momma" is the target. You win "momma" and you likely just landed a recruit.
