They were falling over themselves to manipulate angles of the crowd on TV that would exaggerate how many people were actually there.

Does TV ever show the home, press box side? Was the stadium half full? No. But it appeared to me there were almost as many on the press box side tonight as there were at the Stanford game.
And it was raining for the early part of the game.

Can't scamper or slither...but I used to swim.

All things considered, I thought it was a relatively decent crowd last night.

Re: Attendance 21,218………
I don't have season tickets now but a neighbor gave us two tickets for last night. After the early shower passed through my wife and I tried to enter the stadium with the chairback we had bought at the VU bookstore. Security told us we could not enter with our own chairback. My wife insists on one so we turned around and went home.
There are only three reasons for that rule:(1) VU is worried we have a bomb or gun secreted in the cushion, (2) VU is worried that one of us will suddenly start to beat rNSOM people over the head with it, or (3) VU wants to force rental of its chairbacks.
What do you think?

I think that’s Vandy being just…well Vandy! It’s in their DNA to have a dearth of common sense or logic.

That is the way it is at every SEC stadium: long gone are the days you can bring things into the stadium - if you have a bag it must be see through clear plastic. Lots of rules since 9/11.
Why are so many so critical of virtually everything Vanderbilt on a Vanderbilt fan board?

My wife had her personal items in a clear purse and the chairback was purchased at VU bookstore long after 9/11.

Not being smarta$$ (though I can be very good at that) , but is this not a good place to voice concerns or complaints about VU ? I am sure the boards of all other schools show similar posts. Not agreeing or disagreeing with original poster, just saying that the customer who reasonably voices a complaint is far more helpful than the one who leaves and just never comes back.charlestonalum wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 1:29 pm

Re: Attendance 21,218………
In 1968, a much smaller crowd saw the Commies lose 8-7 to North Carolina. The game was played in a cold, pouring-down rain. NC scored with about a minute left and made the 2-pt conversion. Vandy almost completed a long pass (thrown by either Gary Davis or John Miller) that would have put them in field goal range to win the game. I had a whole section to myself right around the 30-yard line.
Miller led Vandy to a 5-4-1 record that year. A very steady, underrated QB that doesn’t get talked about much anymore. The tie was against heavily-favored Florida. I miss ties!
