Sometimes you're unlucky. Hit it hard the opposite way...but right at the 2nd baseman.

Guy pitches the WHOLE game and only gives up 1 run and still loses.

Unbelievable.

Wow...LaNeve goes down looking. First shutout of the season. Just a ridiculous night. We don’t have the bullpen to come through the loser’s bracket.

Unbelievable is correct…NorthCarolina State…really? First shutout of year? Really? They avenged our 2004 win against them in the basketball tourney…disappointing.

Especially with no support from the bats.

Small ball not tried by coach: hard to figure. That double play was preventable. But I take Corbin any day.

Just for the record, it was Kolwyck (a guy who hasn't played in like a month)

Leiter did his job as good as anyone in a college World Series start. Our offense let him down tonight. Unbelievable

That was a one-mistake game. Gotta give NC State and their freshman pitcher credit. That was a heckuva great pitched game by those 2 young men. So now it's time to go on a 3-game winning streak.

Wow. I can’t imagine how PISSED Corbs is. Leiter basically serves the game up on a silver platter for us and all we can come up with is 2 pathetic hits against a guy with an ERA of almost 4. Dug ourselves a HUGE hole. I’m guessing we’ll have to score at least 8 to beat Stanford tomorrow as they’ve been swinging the bats and our two aces have already been played.

Our pitching is great.

Seriously. Don't panic.

We have to figure out a way to hit. In this big park, I wish we'd swing for more singles.

I will say, NC State made three outstanding fielding plays - the Bradfield bunt, the long ball in the corner where Vaz was held to a single, and the diving catch in right field. Some nights you just have to tip your hat.

I like the optimism but we aren't beating Stanford and then NC State twice. Heck I don't like our chances against Stanford. They've scored 9 or more runs in 5 of their 7 ncaa tournament games. They can hit and we'll be starting who? Little? Reilly? We'll need our offense to show up. We just don't have the pitching depth to make that kind of deep run. And our offense has laid some real stinkers over the last month. Just too inconsistent. There is no Austin Martin or JJ Bleday on this team... at least not yet.

Still it was a great year but we are just not quite good enough to be a national champ.
