But he looks at a strike 3 fastball. GA pitcher completely fooled him. Vandy offense needs to come out of witness protection.

Re: UGA #2
It's something I've actually been seeing all year but has been masked by opposing pitchers giving in and throwing fastballs; our guys are too analytical at the plate and guess too often to be aggressive which leads to being behind in the count. Once our guys get a second strike they either swing over the top of or watch a breaking ball for strike 3. Can't understand why they keep guessing fastball in a pitchers count.charlestonalum wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 7:03 pm We have really lost our hitting. What's up? We aren't even hitting fouls, just striking out.
Re: UGA #2
Leiter hits the leadoff guy on fastball running up and in, then Ks the next guy on 3 pitches, the last an exploding high fastball. 3 more fastballs and another K, his 10th. Next lines a single just past a diving Young, hitter takes 3rd on weak EBjr throw to 3rd. Poor choice by EBjr.
Re: UGA #2
Whew, ground out to Young ends the inning. Nice charging grab and throw by Young. Still 1-0 going to bottom 5
Re: UGA #2
Gonzo check swing K on pitch that landed well within the left hand hitters batter box. Not pretty.
Re: UGA #2
Jones muscles inside pitch the other way for a soft single to left, Hewitt bloops a single to right, his 2nd hit tonight. Gotta take advantage...

Re: UGA #2
Bulger squeezes snow cone high fly for first out. He's a literary in LF. Abnormal 2nd out...single to left, Young throws wildly behind hitter at first, who heads to 2nd and is thrown out at 2nd by Keegan off the rebound off the wall. Routine 7-6-3-4 out. Leiter closes it out with another K. Gotta get some runs...

Man oh man does GA pitcher have his curveball working. Ks Keegan looking.
And then Bulger muscles a long HR to left-center. We're tied!!

Re: UGA #2
GA pitcher keeps cool after Bulger bomb, CJ change up swinging K, Noland routine roller to 2B. New game heading to 7th.
Re: UGA #2
GA pitcher has thrown 99 pitches thru 6, so we may not see much more of him. Let's hope...

Re: UGA #2
Has the UGA pitcher thrown anything over 88? Mostly 78-83 it seems. VU has always struggled with the junk guys. Admittedly, he has been sharp with his junk.
Always hopeful; rarely optimistic.
Re: UGA #2
Leiter Ks first guy in 7th, walks the 2nd on his 100th pitch. He's not been sharp this inning. Even the strike 3 was a swing at a high fastball out of the strike zone. Bulger snags a foul ball, circus catch down the foul line. He is not a polished outfielder (to say the least) but his bat gotta play. Leiter ends the 7th strong with his 13th K. Need some runs!

Re: UGA #2
And the new GA pitcher in 7th throwing more of the same. Gonzo another ugly K, Jones whiffs at maybe the first fastball the dude has thrown. You're right, Vandy has historically struggled against junkers.
