- Cibolo Steele (VU commits Dontae Carter, Alvin Williamson, Jr.) has a HUGE matchup Friday vs. Austin Lake Travis... can the Knights get over the hump against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year? Steele is a contender for the best team in Central Texas, but at some point you have to beat a team like this if you want to be elite.
- High school football gets underway for Louisiana teams this week and Tate Hamby should see his first action... the team travels to Dallas, TX to play Dallas Christian. Look for huge numbers from Hamby this season.
- Chattanooga McCallie (QB Jeremy St.-Hilaire), (2-0), hosts an out-of-state powerhouse, Cincinnati-St. Xavier.
- Locally, will Brentwood Academy (0-2) drop to 0-3 vs. Hendersonville? Vandy has no commitments from BA, but certainly has its eyes on junior QB George MacIntyre and junior RB Tamari Hill. WR Neo Clifton, Nate's brother, suffered an ankle injury last week.
- VU 4-star RB commitment Johann Cardenas evidently didn't play last week in St. Thomas Catholic's (Houston, TX) opener, but his team won anyway... not sure what's up with that. He may be out hurt. He missed a bunch of games last year with an injury.

P.S. Going to make a recruiting prediction... I think 2024 ATH Braxton Lawrence of Goodpasture will eventually commit to VU. I'm convinced now the staff really wants him.

McCallie was machine-like in knocking off Cincinnati powerhouse St. Xavier 34-11... Jeremy St.-Hilaire was 10-of-17 passing for 163 yards and three touchdowns; and one of those went to WR Carson Lawrence, a junior who is already committed to VU... nothing less than a second straight II-AAA state championship is going to be satisfying for the Blue Tornado (3-0).

Across town, another Chattanooga school was taking it to a Catholic school from up north... Baylor, just back from a game in Dublin, Ireland last week, pounded Archbishop Stepinac (from N.Y.) 51-21... VU-committed QB Whit Muschamp threw three TD passes for Baylor (2-1), including this one...

And this one, to Alabama-committed receiver Amari Jefferson...

In Houston, Texas, Lamar defeated The Woodlands 45-21... highlights included this 67-yard TD reception by VU-committed WR Tristen Brown...

Southlake Carroll swarmed Flower Mound Marcus 57-15 to go to 2-0... The Dragons (with VU-committed 6-4 260 O-lineman Harrison Moore) are ranked among the top teams in the whole state of Texas.
