Well like last year our first HS recruit drafted 1st round #3 overall, Max Clark. More to come I am sure based on previous years.

It may be. It is also Enrique Bradfield, Jr's MLB draft pick # in the first round.

George Lombard first round #26 to the yankees. That's 2 recruits, plus Bradfield so far

Just looking around a bit- LSU, Ala, Aub, Clemson, FSU, UVa, UNC among others have all taken hits to their recruiting classes.

Lose another shortstop to the Yankees. Their current starting SS is former VU commit Anthony Volpe.

I'm watching the draft on MLB.com. One of the commentators said White will be a tough sign since he had committed to Vanderbilt. I'll cross my fingers, but he is probably not turning down $2.42 million. You never know. Adjusting for inflation, Tyler Beede turned down a LOT more than that. And what could Dutkanych have made last year?

BTW: Last year's loss to the Diamondbacks, Druw Jones, isn't doing too well. Batting .173 with one extra base hit (a double) in 60 plate appearances. He is only 19 years old and will probably become a star after Arizona trades him to the Braves for a journeyman pitcher coming off a 6-17 season. And Jones already has over $8 million in the bank.

You just made the argument for why HS pitchers should take the money if they can get it. The chance for injury and underperformance is just too great to take a chance. I think Dutkanych will be fine, but you also have someone like Michael Doolin that hasn't pitched since 2020, and Christian Little was thought to be a potential first round talent in HS, before he got to college and was exposed.

Speaking of pitchers …

… VU commit Alex Clemmey was drafted #58 by the Indians, er, Guardians.

I suppose we kinda knew this already but a little disappointing. Explains why Enrique didn’t hit as well which ultimately hurt vandy. Wish him well. Can’t fault him for trying to improve his stock.

Yep. We've been saying these very things on this board for two seasons now. I think Baltimore is a good landing spot for EBjr, they'll teach him to be an effective big leagues leadoff hitter. I'm very excited for Bradford...errrra...Bradfield. Sorry, had to get that in one last time :D

Schreck ninth round to Seattle
