We had lots of runners left on base last game (prior to the big game winning inning) on called 3rd strikes that guys could have hit across the river to New Albany, Indiana ....but for some reason had to leave the bat on their shoulders. Especially late in (pre extras) game.

League office game - the strike zone is a thimble for both teams.

This clearly favors sluggers.

Uh-Oh. Reilly walks the leadoff hitter on 5 pitches, none of the 4 balls were close. #2 hitter helps him by swinging at three pitches outside the strike zone. Need "Good" Reilly to settle in.

Reilly is a mystery. Good stuff but all over the place early

Reilly kept his cool with the squeezed zone.

0-0 after one.

The zone is squeezed. Reilly thru 5 hitters has gotten 3 close call strikes that looked like strikes. Florida pitcher got 3 that looked like balls. Of course, Reilly has been kinda wild which influences umpires. Good news, he got out of potential trouble in the 1st with no outs on just 21 pitches. Good start, all-in-all.

Austin has not had good at bats lately.

Trying to smoke everything. Wish he would go for contact more.

Vastine, by contrast, is going for contact and going the opposite way with success.

Polk swung at obvious ball four.

Popped out.

Yep on both counts, and Vastine did exactly what you said, NostraNoke ;)

Reilly put two pitches on a tee in the middle of the strike zone this inning...both were crushed. Ouch!

I think Bulger is on the cusp of giving Espinal more time behind the plate.

He has given up several bases tonight - and his last outing at Bama was rough.

Reilly gives up a 2-run dinger. This one feels uphill already.

He doesn’t have much of an option.

That’s why I hate that we are getting these thimble crews on the road at slugging opponents. It’s essentially fixing games by SEC office.

You're right, the only close calls he's getting are at the bottom of the zone. But now, a 3rd fastball in the heart of the zone is another RBI double...you just can't miss there. The aggravating part is that the Fla pitcher has had 3-4 pitches that have looked like balls all year called strikes.

I wished sometimes he didn’t steal and let the inning play out - but I get it

Reiley's first SEC start in a year.
