Dangerous midweek matchup tonight

Indiana State is 11-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference and just swept Belmont in Nashville. They have some good non-conference wins (although they did get swept by UK), and are 22-12 overall. The Sycamores have traditionally given Vanderbilt fits over the years (VU needed two late errors in the 11th inning to win last year), and the game falls in a dangerous place on the schedule for Vandy.

They have wins over 3 or 4 BigTen teams.
Mid-majors in that part of the country hate the BigTen.

Who is pitching for us? Hope we can get the W so that there is momentum going over to Knoxville where they will be waiting on us.

Schultz is starting, but I assume we'll see a lot of the pen tonight.

Terrific play by Polk in LF cutting off a hit far to his right and throwing the hitter out at 2nd trying to stretch to a double for the 3rd out in the 1st. The runner wanted a review, even though he slid directly into the tag and was tagged again when he popped briefly off the bag. Kinda funny...

Dodged a cannon ball that inning- bases loaded and Thompson gets the last 2 outs after each batter narrowly misses extra base fouls

0-2 couldn't doge those bullets right up the midlle with a couple of walks thrown in

Self-inflicted pain. 1-out WP sends a runner to 2nd. Next guy rips a ground ball to Diaz at 3rd; gobbles it up throws the hitter out at 1st. Very likely an inning-ending 5-4-3 DP without the WP. Next guy singles the runner home from 2nd and after a walk, another RBI single. 2-0 ISU because of the wild pitch. Sigh...

Bunt with bases loaded 1 out so easy second out at home and then a ground out- strand 3!

Did it seem to you that Bulger--not exactly a speedster--was surprised by that bunt? Either someone missed a sign, or Polk bunted on his own. Whatever, it was not good.
