Grad Transfer Jordyn Oliver Commits
Oliver is a 5'10 transfer out of Duke who committed to Vandy today. Technically, she is a redshirt junior, which means she has been in school four years but has two years of eligibility left.
She was a USA Basketball Gold Medalist in 2017, and in 2019 she was a McDonald's All-American and a Jordan Brand All-American. After redshirting the 21-'22 season due to injury, she played in all 31 games this year, averaging about 17 minutes. Not a stats stuffer, but I think this staff has proven they can be trusted when it comes to judging guards.
ETA: Jordyn spent her first two years at Baylor. She entered college as the nation's #12 recruit.

Missed her first year at Duke with an achilles injury.

First off, hats off for #11 (good Ciaja mojo)
Second, a guard named Jordyn in a Vandy uniform (can't argue with that)
Third, she has already recovered from her achilles injury (so, too, hopefully, has the original Jordyn)

Re: Grad Transfer Jordyn Oliver Commits
#12 in 2019 Hoopgurlz rankings. (take a look at the players listed ahead of her)
https://www.espn.com/high-school/girls- ... class/2019
She's from Prosper, Texas and signed with Kim Mulkey and Baylor out of high school. Unfortunately, that put her directly behind the Bears' dynamic point guard, Moon Ursin, her first two years, but she did a good job in the backup role while waiting her turn.
After two years of that, Mulkey left, and Oliver transferred to Duke where she tore her achilles in her first pre-season, '21-22. Came back and played about 17 minutes per game in '22-'23 and shot 46-percent from the field. Here's an oddity for you...a guard in the modern game that took only two three-point shots. She's obviously a more pure point guard than a shooter. Had 73 assists against 38 turnovers this year and averaged 3.5 rebounds. We have outside shooters on the roster and will have more coming in June. I love the idea of another guard that penetrates to score and looks to set up teammates. Looks be strong, too. Muscular arms and shoulders.

Re: Grad Transfer Jordyn Oliver Commits
This is Oliver in her last year of EYBL ball. Aside from the solid play, what I like most is that no matter what kind of play she makes, she doesn't jump around, scream and hold a parade for herself. Just goes about her business. The only time she showed any emotion at all was to clap enthusiastically when a teammate made a good play. If she's still that way, she'll quickly become one of my favorites.
