Re: Question?
Hopefully, my Cubbies. So much clickbait, hard to know. Will Braves try to get him back. Several teams that swung and missed at the other three SS's. Dansby is on his honeymoon, so maybe nothing until after new year's. His wife is a pro soccer player for the Chicago team. The bid up for the other guys signed is definitely going to up his price

Re: Question?
My guess is Boston. I'm pissed at the Braves form not making a bigger effort to sign him.

Re: Question?
I hope not Boston. That franchise is beyond dysfunctional.geeznotagain wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 12:03 pm My guess is Boston. I'm pissed at the Braves form not making a bigger effort to sign him.
Always hopeful; rarely optimistic.

Re: Dansby
The Braves probably could have signed him for less as a free agent (maybe 7 years / $140 million). And had they made a serious offer before the breakout 2022 season, Dansby would have been a Brave for life.
The Cubs are my second favorite team: Good luck to Dansby and all of the Vandy Boys.

Re: Question?
Dansby tried really hard to stay with the Braves, even down to the last minute. Braves' final offer was reportedly 6y/100M and Swanson countered with 6y/140M. Per the Braves GM, "[Dansby] deserves everything he got, but at a certain point, it doesn't make sense for us...he did everything he could. He was committed, sincere, and was more than willing to take a lot less. It's important everyone is aware of that." When asked about Dansby's intangibles, "No doubt. And it's real. It's authentic, it's sincere. It just comes so naturally for him. Guys follow him, he leads; it's not contrived. He lives his life that way each day...That's why he was the first pick in the draft. It's why they won in college. It's why he was part of a lot of winning teams in Atlanta. It's not an accident. Winning follows him."
