Re: Any update on Jackson?
It sounds like he will continue on staff, at least as of last night. Lea wouldn't address it specifically at the post-game presser, citing it as a personnel issue, but said that it was an opportunity for a "continuing conversation."

This includes the AD. I've never seen such a mealy mouthed response from our administration.bernstml19 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 12:10 pm Well time to fire everyone again…. Honestly probably couldn’t hurt anything

It’s unacceptable. Simple as that.
Leadership is for those willing to make the tough decisions…Coach Lea is not a leader.

Re: Any update on Jackson?
Got this email this evening:
Dear Vanderbilt community,
In recent days, questions and concerns have been raised related to social media comments made by a member of the football team’s coaching staff. You can find a statement on the matter from Athletic Director Candice Lee and Head Football Coach Clark Lea, as well as an apology from Coach Dan Jackson, here.
While individual views expressed by faculty, staff or students do not represent the university, we are concerned by the allegations. Vanderbilt has a thorough process for addressing reports of discrimination through Equal Opportunity and Access, and that review is underway. As the athletic department announced earlier today, Coach Jackson has agreed to step back from his responsibilities as this process unfolds.
Vanderbilt rejects and condemns antisemitism, racism and discrimination in all its forms. Any act of harassment, hatred or violence—whether through action or language, in person or online—stands in direct opposition to Vanderbilt’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion and will not be tolerated.
These incidents should serve as a reminder that we are a community dedicated to treating one another with civility and respect. We do this while serving as a catalyst for constructive and meaningful dialogue that can lead to progress on challenging issues. We will continue to identify opportunities to learn and grow together as a community going forward.
For any students, faculty or staff members who need support processing recent events, we hope you will draw on the university resources listed below.
Sincerely,
Daniel Diermeier
Seems Coach Jackson was 72 hours late "stepping back from his responsibilities".

Always hopeful; rarely optimistic.

Re: Any update on Jackson?
Glad to see how this is being handled. Based on Coach Lea’s comments in the post game presser I suspect a variety of legal/procedural steps were on-going and they take time.
School gets the seriousness of this and is acting in a measured manner.

Re: Any update on Jackson?
Same article picked up on ESPN.
Fwiw, permitting his presence on the sideline on Saturday was a big mistake. National news is going to rightfully tear the administration apart for this.
“ Jackson coached in Vanderbilt's loss to South Carolina last weekend after issuing an apology for a comment saying Ye was "two steps ahead of everyone else." Lee and head coach Clark Lea issued a joint statement, saying the situation was being handled internally.”

The judgey thing from countless self righteous people is loathsome.
But Coach Jackson, and in fact, any coach is stupid for posting anything personally on social media. Period. This is why. He'll probably lose his job over this. That sucks, but adulting is hard.

Gotta take issue with you on this Buffy and I generally agree with and appreciate your insights. Being offended by a statement that praises and pushes an out and out Jew hating agenda is far from being "judgey". And "stupid" is different from being hateful. Posting porno is stupid, this is different.buffy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 9:48 am The judgey thing from countless self righteous people is loathsome.

We're all "self righteous" to some degree and the admonition about "casting the first stone" resonates with me but on the other hand egregious postings like this deserve to be called out.

In the meantime DC Nick Howell (who coached DB's at Virginia) is coaching secondary, assisted by Jimmy Thompson, who is Jackson's assistant with the DB's. "Tuesday looked just like a normal practice," Lea said.

Re: Any update on Jackson?
I agree. I am a transactional lawyer, not a litigator. However, there have been too many instances where the person who acted badly is suspended or terminated without due process, only to successfully sue the employer. It would have been easy for Vandy to jump the gun and take action outside the school's published guidelines. A vulture plaintiff's lawyer would be stalking to pick Vandy's bones.
Jackson's posting was deplorable and should ultimately lead to his termination, in my view. Yet, correct procedures must be followed to minimize risk to Vandy. From the school's viewpoint that takes measured time. From Jackson's viewpoint, what is the rush.
Sad story.
