Dan Lanning going to the Pacific Northwest. I didn't see that coming. Other sources are questioning this, however.

Well, apparently Lanning is indeed headed to Eugene after all, according to reports this afternoon.

I think based on what I’ve seen on the internet that after Lanning was interviewed and “offered” the job initially, Chip Kelly contacted them and said he would be interested. The Oregon AD put a hold on the Lanning offer to check this out, but discovered Kelly’s buyout at UCLA was too much. Somehow Auburn coach Bryan Harsin’s name was mentioned as a possibility too, but he’s only been at Auburn one year (although if he goes 6-6 again like he did this year, Auburn fans will demand a change), so he wasn’t a real option.
