I think Shan Foster wore the same number (32) as 1974 SEC MVP Jan van Breda Kolff. That number was also worn by Anthony Williams and others.

Will Perdue and my boyhood hero, Roger Schurig, both wore #32.

If JVBK had been more successful as head coach his number likely would be retired already.

It has been done. Eg. - #8 for Bill Dickey and Yogi Berra.

Honestly, I think they should do a 3 for 1 deal here. Foster - Perdue - Van Breda Kolff. Each guy was a super star in their own time. I don't know much about VBK other than he was SEC player of the year and a heck of a player. Wilbur was an All-American and has 4... FOUR world championship rings. Shan is our all-time leading scorer.

Would actually be a really great way to honor the past and heal some wounds that may have been left open.

Billy McCaffrey at home against Kentucky in January of 1993 is worthy of discussion.
