Rough season for most of the private academically elite FBS programs

Post by AuricGoldfinger »

None of Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Rice (all ranked in the top 25 national universities by US News and World Report) will be going to a bowl game this year. Notre Dame, of course, is the outlier. USC (just outside the top 25 at #27) might miss a bowl game as well, with games remaining against UCLA and BYU. Wake Forest (#28 in USN&WR) at least salvages the top 30.

Except for Notre Dame, it seems to be just about impossible for those schools to sustain success in football. They have periods of success (some more than others), but it doesn’t seem to last.

And they don:t all have former defensive coordinators as head coaches, just goes to show you how hard it is for academic places to sustain winning programs, but there is hope eternal...

And these schools have not even started to see the impact of the New World Order.
