LSU #1

Post by Levon »

6-pitch, 1-2-3 1st inning for LSU. 3 routine ground ball outs. Oddly, all 3 VU hitters hit the 2nd pitch they saw. On to Rocker

2 Ks, a high fly to RF and single thru 3-4 hole. No runs scored on the 1st, on to the 2nd.

I can't watch for the 45 minutes to an hour, so if someone else wants to describe the action, I would appreciate it.

This announcer's voice will drive me to kill myself if I have to listen to him for two games.
We have to figure a way to hit this guy. Hopefully, as we often do, the second time through will be different.

Fabulous play by the third baseman to save 2 runs. Still 1-0 Vandy.

Thomas hits a fly to right that the wind bent toward the line. Right fielder dives but it hits off his glove and Thomas ends up with a triple. Gonzo singles him home. Bradfield walks. Keegan with a sharp grounder down the line in left but the third baseman dives and gets it then throws a strike to first for the third out. 1-0 VU

We aren't making their pitcher work - hitting first or second pitch to infield for easy out. Bottom of 4th. We go quick 3 up and 3 down in top of 4th.

Thomas plunked. Cooper D bunts him over. Gonzo doubles him home. 2-0. Bradfield singles and they are now on the corners with one out. Carter Young bunt single down third base line. Bases loaded for Keegan. Keegan with a bloop hit and two runs score. Runners on the corners, 4-0. Bulger with a SF to right, 5-0. CJ lines one to the warning track that would have been a home run without the 20 mph wind blowing in. Even so, LF makes great catch. 5-0 Vandy.

In theory we have enough runs now to win, but would welcome more.

Marceaux entered game having allowed 1 ER in 35 innings, barely over 0.25 ERA. 5 earned runs later he’s at 1.35 ERA.

Thanks for the updates, sounds like I've missed 3 good Vandy innings! Just saw Noland single to left leading off the 6th.
And yes, the announcer is not fun to listen to...

I agree with scorekeeper on Bradfield’s bunt. There was no play at first either.

Personally, I think you let Rocker pitch this inning and then bring on Hliboki. Give him some rest. What do yall think?
