Shouldn't be. He is a good coach, great recruiter, and a class individual, which is a rare statement to be made about anyone from UT.

Maybe he could step down and let an interim coach take over just for March every year.

I saw an amazing stat for Barnes yesterday. He's lost to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 seed in his career.

That definitely is an amazing statistic, which obviously indicates a lot of overall success.

Barnes was successful at the real UT in Austin. A principal reason for being pushed out was lack of post season success in relation to winning during the regular season.

If his teams were good enough to be seeded 4, 3, 2 or 1 he could lose to 13, 14, 15 and 16.

UT should have never fired Bruce Pearl but should have slapped his hand and ridden out the sanctions!

I agree with this. While Pearl is sketchy, that particular offense was quite minor, in my opinion, and UT shouldn't have fired him. They would likely be a whole lot better off if they hadn't. I actually enjoy the guy- sketchiness and all.

He also got Auburn in trouble with the NCAA for recruiting infractions. They were banned from the postseason for two straight seasons. Had he stayed at UT, that would have been UT that would have been penalized. The fact that he (and LSU coach Will Wade) still have jobs is amazing to me. They both should have been fired for their NCAA infractions.

Pearl was not directly involved in the Auburn situation. Like I said- a little sketchy- but so are many.

What's more, he hung the university president out to dry when he went before the NCAA committee and swore that Pearl never did this things, just before they presented him with pictures. For that alone I'd have fired him.

I think Barnes had 2nd thoughts about being at Tennessee almost from the time he arrived there!
