We will settle this on May 5 ...
... and perhaps again in Omaha.
LOUISVILLE NO. 1 IN CB’S PRE-SEASON POLL

Let's see what their no. 4 starter can do against Leiter or Eder in May and then I wouldn't be surprised if both of our clubs go deep into the CWS.

Recruiting comparison to Vanderbilt
Re Louisville: "Factor in one of the top recruiting classes in the nation ...."
Granted, no. 15 is "one of the top" among about 300 Division I baseball programs.
But Vanderbilt is NUMBER ONE according to Perfect Game: https://www.perfectgame.org/rankings/Re ... kings.aspx
Not counting players who signed pro contracts...
Louisville has 2 players in the Top 100 of PG rankings (81, 92) and 2 more in the Top 500 (233, 235).
Vanderbilt has 4 players in the Top 100 (15, 31, 67, 98) and 9 more in the Top 500 (105, 110, 131, 148, 150, 209, 215, 416, 489).*
We bested Louisville BY FAR in the rankings of high school players. In fairness, though, the CB article did refer to two JC transfer outfielders who could contribute greatly. They are not counted in the PG recruiting rankings.
*Among the Vanderbilt recruits on the PG list is no. 451, outfielder Blaine McIntosh. Does anyone know his status with our team?

Re: Recruiting comparison to Vanderbilt
He's not on it. He was drafted in the 13th round by the Mets, and signed with them.

Re: Blaine McIntosh
The MLB Draft Tracker doesn't show him as signing with the Mets, but you are correct.
I see McIntosh played 24 games in the Gulf Coast League this summer:

Obviously, the Mets saw something in him that Perfect Game did not and signed McIntosh for $125k.
Interesting to me, a southpaw: Blaine bats lefthanded and throws lefthanded but signed his contract with his right hand. See photo:

PS: One of our freshmen, Will Duff, only rated a "500" by PG (probably meaning 500-1,000) but is projected to see considerable PT for the Commodores.

I believe Luke Smith of Louisville actually says it as "swear to believe."

I think college baseball recruiting rankings are sketchy at best. Your best way to tell how good a player is is by his offer list.
