Well, that stunk. Slept walked the past couple of days against a bottom-tier opponent. It's that GD logo.

The way we played against SC, we may be a bottom tier team

Just curious, why would you think that? Who would play 2nd?

We'll get embarrassed (again).

I’m good with Gavin Casas at first. He has a pretty good bat.

I also do not know if Vaz is injured, but I DO know that Vaz was in a deep slump. Prior to the final Hawaii game, Vaz was batting .424. Since then he has two hits in 24 AB (.083). After an 0-2 start in the Belmont game, Vaz was lifted for a pinch-hitter.

Corbs tried Laneve in left field the first two South Carolina games. Result: 1-6 with 3 strikeouts.

Hewitt, faster and a better fielder than Laneve (Hewitt has been used as a defensive replacement), subbed in for Laneve in Game 1 of the SC series. He walked twice in two AB. Perhaps Corbs thought Hewitt deserved another shot.

Hewitt got the start today and responded with 3-3 plus a BB, HBP, SB and 2 RBI.

On the season, Hewitt is now 7 of 11 (.636 average) with 3 BB and 2 HBP (.750 on base pct.). He also has a double and home run for a 1.000 slugging pct.

I know it's a small sample, but I don't mind sticking with Hewitt for now.

Versus, excellent analysis. Good insight on Vaz slump that I hadn't considered. And yes, a hot Hewitt is a good option.

Getting no production from first...recall opening day starting lineup with Vistine at first. Corbs knows when there is a weak link. Better options to fill in at second...Vaz or a young'un. Or Jones to first and plug someone in the outfield. Certainly Hewitt stays in for now.

The way it looks now, it's all moot bc Vawls are for real. If they are not #1 in every poll (assuming they win tonight. Up 8-0 right now) the polls are a farce. We have our work cut out for us next weekend to try to hold their offense down.....and to score a bunch of runs bc they can pitch too. Of course, it's only March and nobody is ever as good or as bad as they seem.

We need someone besides Noland. Casis did ok and he can hit. Heck, I hit better than Noland.

I have noticed that lately all Vaz does is hit fly balls. He used to be a line drive hitter. Makes me wonder if after getting a couple of HRs maybe it has changed his approach at the plate
