It may be obvious to Tennessee fans, but what's the right way to say Vols?

His newspaper also felt compelled to tell its readers how far it is to Nashville. and that it's in a different time zone :
Can't scamper or slither...but I used to swim.

As a jr. lawyer in New York, in 1986-87 I found myself working on Butcher bank related cases in Knoxville. My boss was a very New York guy with the accent. He was trying to learn how to ingratiate himself with folks in Knoxville. Riding a cab in from the airport in Knoxville, he chatted up the cabbie for practice. As we passed Neyland Stadium with the letters V O L S lit up at night, he exclaimed, "so how do you think the Voles are going to do this year?" I repeated to the story to all the folks in the office in Knoxville, and everyone who did not go to UT (most) immediately adopted "Voles" and, to my knowledge, have stuck with it since!

Vawls, Voles...what's the difference? They're both pests.
