Honolulu: Warriors can expect triple-digit temperatures in Tennessee for season opener

Post by BrentVU »

Headline's a little misleading... it should only be around 90 degrees by kickoff...

Seriously, the heat and oppressive humidity may be a factor, both for players and fans. The Commodores should be used to it; will the Rainbow Warriors be up for a sweat-fest? In Hawaii, the weather is pretty much perfect year-round.

After an uneven practice Tuesday morning, the Warriors departed for the chartered flight to Tennessee. The Warriors’ schedule calls for an intense practice this afternoon, light workout Thursday, and fast-paced practice Friday.

The best parts are the quotes from the VU players, including this one from Bradley Ashmore:

Ashmore noted that concerns for Maui transcend state lines.

“We’re all a big community,” Ashmore said. “We’re a football family and we’re also a human family. We’re all connected. When our brothers and sisters need help, that’s our place to step in and provide the help we can. The dream of humanity is that happens in return, and it creates a world where we can help each other, live amongst each other. It creates a world we can all take pride in.”
Can't scamper or slither...but I used to swim.

I see that several local high schools are pushing kickoff time back to 8 p.m. on Friday because of the expected heat.

Really wish they would consider doing the same for Vandy's kickoff time.
