New recruit

Former Lipscomb Academy baseball standout Miller Green has changed his college plans, and that will keep him closer to home.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Miller decommitted from Georgia Tech in late June and has committed to play at Vanderbilt beginning this fall. Miller told The Tennessean he was released from his Georgia Tech commitment on Wednesday.

After decommitting from Georgia Tech, Miller said his final choice came down to Tennessee or Vanderbilt, which also recruited him prior to him signing with Georgia Tech.

Green batted .406 with a .642 slugging percentage and a 1.122 OPS with 43 hits, 10 doubles, five homers and 43 RBIs as a first baseman for Lipscomb Academy, where he played when he wasn't pitching.

On the mound he went 7-0 with a 1.25 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over 86⅓ innings, striking out 99.

He said he expected to be used as a pitcher, and "try to hit and see what happens."

Green could be taken in this year's Major League Baseball Draft, which begins Sunday evening, but said he was "mostly locked in" to Vanderbilt.

Good pickup. Nice to backfill with anticipated losses to the draft.

Was he released from the Georgia Tech commitment on Wednesday or is that when he told The Tennessean?

Does it matter or is that a weak attempt to criticize his grammar?

I’m only criticizing the grammar because…

… a professional journalist should know better. Perhaps the writer will see this and learn something.

Seeing the crap that gets written these days, I didn't know there were any "professional" writers left. Just hacks that get paid to spew garbage.
