Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
I know that it is rightfully difficult for some of us "old schoolers" to deal with the transfer portal and the emotional roller coaster it put fans through... but..
Just know that normal students don't have to publicly "declare" that they are in the transfer portal... they just switch schools.
Or they think hard about it and decide NOT to switch schools... but as they think about it they don't have to deal with adults fretting about it on the radio.
I have a friend from NROTC days who transferred from GA Tech to Vanderbilt between his fresh and sophomore years. He's now a high ranking official in the Pentagon. I suppose he "entered the transfer portal" when he "abandoned" Georgia Tech, but no one cared in 1985.
My son transferred from one college to the other, and there weren't stories in the paper about it. No one cares when a biosystems engineering student transfers, even though I understand they make decent money.
Grown men get worked up about college sports, and I guess I'm one of them (though I guess compared to many, I'm lame compared to someone who listens to talk radio.)
When the season starts, I root for Vanderbilt. I've tried, but I can't get it out of my blood.
Welcome back, Tyrin.

Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
I believe he and Stack put this whole plan together to help Tyrin decide his future. He found out what his strengths and weaknesses are according to decision makers and he also found out his worth for NIl. I’m sure Stack supported him all the way through this process because he cares about his players wellbeing first and foremost. That was quite evident during his postgame pressor when he got choked up talking about Jordan Wright. Stack also didn’t know if Tyrin would chose VU but he held his place and put the “collective” in a position to where they had to step up to the plate! I don’t know if we were the highest bidder but I believe Tyrin weighed his options and chose to stay home, play for Stack and get his degree! I have zero hurt feelings toward Tyrin because we have zero knowledge about his situation and maybe he had no intention of leaving until others began throwing money at him. In the end I hope his family will be comfortable and his future settled with his VU diploma!!

I remember chuckling back in 2001 when he introduced it as Volhater.rEvUrB wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 2:04 pmMan you are 1000% committed to making this joke work.MrMemorial wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:24 pmDid he ever run into a student name BethAnne Rhozhaski?historybill wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 12:41 pm

Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
The economic impact of Tyrin's decision is pretty big. His return likely takes the team from 6-12 in SEC play to 12-6 or something like that. A team who that can make the NCAA's. Big sigh of relief (from everyone).
Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
I am glad he tested the waters and found the grass greener in Nashville. Not to mix metaphors or anything. Welcome home Tyrin!

Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
I don't think it is quite that dramatic. I think 12-6 is possible, but without Lawrence we could probably win 8-9 games in the SEC. 3 wins for a single player is a very large amount. 6 would be in the Stephen Curry range.
