Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
That was bizarre. Thought we had a grand slam and get nothing.

Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
They are gonna call it not a catch. Runner at 1st out on the force at second . Austin out for rounding 1sf and not being on bag. Shouldn’t the run count?

Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
There’s no way under the laws of physics that didn’t hit the wall. It’s absurd to say it didn’t.
Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
That's the only kind of situation I can figure. Did the 2nd base ump signal a catch for an out in CF or not? I don't know. That needs to be determined to understand what the runners did and why. Crazy play with no explanation...kinda chickenshit by the umps and the league office.
Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
On the one replay they showed it looked like Bradfield left on the first touch by the CF, the legal, proper time to leave.charlestonalum wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 4:00 pm Doubke play: fly caught and Bradfield went home too early.

Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
Isn’t the ump in the outfield supposed to make a safe or out call on the catch? Did he? What did he call?
Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
On the quickly shown, fuzzy replay from LF to resume the telecast in bottom 6th, the 2nd & 3rd base umps didn't look to leave their spots or make a call on the fly ball. The 1st base ump appeared to run into the outfield but ran from view before he made any call. Clearly the hitter and the runners on 1st & 2nd were not aware of a safe call on the play at the fence. Sounds like they called Austin out for passing the runner and Schrek on a force at 3rd. Poorly officiated, though to fair, it was a really bizarre play.geeznotagain wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 4:05 pm Isn’t the ump in the outfield supposed to make a safe or out call on the catch? Did he? Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
Bases loaded, double off the wall, and we get 1 run? No wonder my butt cheeks hurt. If that costs is the game … boy oh boy.
Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
Yes! Seems like the right move to me. Carter & Reilly were/have been spectacular picking up Holton. Time for 2 innings of MaldaNoNo!

Our arms really came in and settled down this crazy SC lineup. With a fluke play we should have been up even more. Nice bounce back so far.

Let’s get 6 runs in the 8th so he doesn’t have to pitch the 9th

Re: Vandy-South Carolina game 2 thread
Carter & Reilly, members of the pitching staff with no depth (sorry), got 19 outs while facing only 22 hitters, with nothing even close to a scoring threat. Carter got 7 outs, Reilly 12, about what you would hope or expect to get from them, setting up Maldo the Elder to get the last 6 outs. Carter & Reilly are the game MVPs regardless how this turns out.
