I'd say the wheels have come off the bus on the season and it's getting worse.

Have we ever shot FIVE airballs in one game before?
Has any team?
We are beyond rattled.

Re: Well...this is an interesting starting lineup
I don’t know that Shelby is gone. He logged some minutes earlier and didn’t do much of anything. Committed a foul way out of position and missed a shot big time. Granted. Nobody has done much of anything this game. So who knows. Sure hope he stays because he and Dort came as a package. And I think both have displayed potential (Dort more so, obviously).
This was just one of those nights. $hit happens. VU isn’t the only team to suffer it. Bama did in their last outing. They were clearly on a mission to respond to being embarrassed last weekend. VU was the unfortunate sacrificial lamb.

Jerry just referred to young guys not playing because they aren’t bought in…UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:21 pm I don’t know that Shelby is gone. Re: Well...this is an interesting starting lineup
I guess - losing by 25 is one of those nights (we were a 16 point dog according to kenpom.com). Losing by 57 is another thing completely. This is pretty much exactly like the UK loss in 2003. I'm still in favor of keeping CJS overall, but ADCSL had better put a "tournament or else" precondition on next season or quite frankly she isn't doing her job.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:21 pm I don’t know that Shelby is gone. I’m okay with this, unfortunately foresee some offseason roster turnover. Hard to see an avenue where we have a group capable of making tournament next season.

Neither did Stallings. That loss was before he had his success.dallasdore wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:58 pmSo what about Stackhouse? He doesn't have the tourney apprearances or sweet 16's to hang on to.

Re: Well...this is an interesting starting lineup
I fear The portal is going to be full of highly talented young guys from Vanderbilt who didn’t “buy in”.
For any who would make the comparison of CKS to CJS…
The former wouldn’t sit on his duff in frustration in a game like tonight…he’d slam his way clear through a pair of leather soles and at least try.
I’m just not a fan of the silent parent treatment CJS put out there tonight.

Re: Well...this is an interesting starting lineup
Go back and watch Stallings 62 point loss to UK in 2003. I was at that game in Rupp. I sat almost directly across from our bench. It's exactly how that game went down. Stallings sat on the bench with his head in his hands and a thousand-yard stare. Literally. I thought that was the end too. Stallings had no success to hang his hat on at that point.doubledore9603 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:13 pm I fear The portal is going to be full of highly talented young guys from Vanderbilt who didn’t “buy in”.

Not excusing it. It's just the truth.
