SC Hangs 63 on UtK

Down goes the great aarnge pretender. Instead of checkerboarding the Bank, we may see 40,000+ fans enter the witness protection program.

When was the last time a top ten team was humiliated to this degree? Ever?

Maybe they shouldn’t have ran up the score on Missouri last week. A. It gave their players a false sense that they were so good that they could put that many points on the board with little effort, so they didn’t play very hard tonight; B. It gave South Carolina extra motivation. You know Beamer was preaching to his players all week that UT was a classless team, and they had to come out aggressive on offense looking to score every possession (which they did in the first half) because UT was going to score a lot of points.

Another typical UT letdown. Just like last year’s basketball, losing to Michigan and not making the Sweet Sixteen when everyone said they were a Final Four team; and baseball, losing to Notre Dame and not getting to the CWS; and losing in the Music City Bowl after their coach said they were “Nashville’s team.”

Mizzou was doubtless hoping for a Gamecock field goal to make it 66.

They put a graphic up that a non ranked team hadn't put up that many points vs a top5 since 1936 I think it was

i was there at williams-brice tonight to witness overrated ut’s slaughter with my own eyeballs. ‘twas challenging to temper my glee in the company of my orange-blooded son. the absolutely electric game experience there (one huge party) was surprising to us both….haven’t witnessed any to compare.

Hey 3rd Fl,

I was so fascinated by the 76-0 game from 1918 I wrote an article about it for a regional magazine.

-UT says they didn’t field a team that year.

- a team did come down from Knoxville and likely some members were part of an Army Camp Team.

- The Tennessean’s Cicero Slack covered it as a varsity game and wrote an amazing recap of the game full of literary flourish.

- I spoke with SIDs of both schools. Leathers was great.UTs said he was tired of the story.

- the two schools give different totals for the series record. This will likely never be resolved.

They were dominated by a team that scored 10 on Mizzou and looks like they lost their QB in the process. I'm not happy about an injury but I'm very happy to see those fans get what they deserve and come crashing back to reality. Well as much reality as a UT fan is capable of possessing.

What a day, what a day. I feel guilty but just can't help reading the UT forums as it's just so dang funny to see them react to this day. I wonder how many UT objects are in garbage cans right now. :D

I have a son at UF. He texted me during the Vandy game...probably heard me yelling an hour and a half drive away...I too had to temper my glee a little. Cool that you got to see the game. Does anyone outside of TN like the Vols? As the saying goes, "any given Sunday."

Their crowd (on the TV) did look to be awesome. Jam packed and very raucous.

So uTk gets eviscerated by South Cackalacka, then has to go play the only team that ever gave them a worse whupping.

The question is, which uTk team had more actual students on it, the 1918 squad or the current one?
