Not a final judgement...
Listening to the past radio highlights on the Anchor Podcast, I think I am going to really miss Joe Fisher.
Probably not fair to judge Allegretta based on the ETSU game because there was not much to be excited about.
But Joe was special. He and Charlie Mac are easily my favorite VU announcers and I might almost give the edge to Joe.

Re: Not a final judgement...
Joe was one of if not the best play-by-play announcers I've ever heard and I've heard a good number. He was a special talent. Vanderbilt fans were lucky to have him. I thought Allegretta did a good job for his 1st broadcast. in particular, he asked Norman Jordan some great questions and was not a homer.

AA sounds like Hawkeye Pierce. That's the best thing I can say about him.
It's not because he's NOT Joe Fisher.
It's because of the way he says words that end with T at the end of a sentence.

I agree with you as a kid I loved Charlie Mac but Joe Fisher by far was the best announcer in my 45 years being a fan

you are likely too young to have heard larry munson announce vu sports. fisher and charlie mac were excellent for us....but munson exceeded them both.alathIN wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 9:10 am Listening to the past radio highlights on the Anchor Podcast, I think I am going to really miss Joe Fisher.

Re: Not a final judgement...
I really liked Joe and Charlie Mac as well. I am one of those who would sit in the stands listening to the game on the radio because I enjoyed hearing them. Admittedly, I didn't listen in last week but I may give it a shot tonight. Think of it this way - it can't be worse than listening to Bert Bertelkamp on the UT basketball games - nothing is worse than that.

Despite the recent unpleasantness, Munson was a more of a character than all those who followed him combined. You could write a book just on his extracurriculars.
