Is CCL allergic to talking to his players, coaches?

Post by MrMemorial »

He's like the flip-side of smiling/clapping Bryce Drew in a sullen and equally ineffective way.

You think that crowd was sparse tonight? Just wait.

Losing the fans on game one not good.

He's not an alpha male. If he was he would have been chewing some butt. Most good head coaches are alpha males. Lea appeared to be the correct hire, just like Mason before him. Maybe this was just a bad day and things will get better next week. Northwestern lost to Miami (Ohio) in their second game back in 1995 and ended up in the Rose Bowl.

Lea totally lost credibility with me with his post-game radio comments. It was like he had just gotten up from a refreshing nap. No fire, no nothing. Just "Ho hum, we'll get back to practice and try to do better next week."
I would have liked to see some fire and embarrassment, even if it was fake.
The whole team played like they wanted to be somewhere else. Nothing like enthusiasm from anyone, which I assume flows down directly from the top..

The MAC is D-1, not 1aa and Miami used to be good in football as we unfortunately found out that night several of our best players were suspended that time.

Even though a decent 1aa team can beat crappy d-1 teams and half a dozen did so this weekend. Maybe we should have scheduled 1aa newcomer North Alabama before they have a chance to get good on the 1aa level.

I never said that Miami was not D-1. They were a team that Northwestern expected to beat and they didn't. Later in that season they were beating Michigan and other Big 10 heavyweights.

Northwestern had just beat #9 Notre Dame the week before, so there may have been a letdown vs Miami (OH) who actually had a decent team that season. MU beat Cincinnati that season too. **

**Miami U had a qb back then named Sam Ricketts (sp?) who passed for 2500 yards one season w/ a QB rating of 132. Outstanding indeed.

Also Northern Illinois beat Georgia Tech last night, so the MAC did grab one win over a p-5 this week.
