Re: New Commit - Darren Agu
This class will probably be the best since 2013. Huge difference is the 13 class came after a 9 win bowl season. We made the right hire. Imagine what is possible after some wins.

Re: New Commit - Darren Agu
The class is looking pretty good comparative to previous classes. Here's a look at 247's average recruit ranking and national rank going back to 2010:
2022 0.8518 25
2021 0.8479 49
2020 0.8475 53
2019 0.8451 58
2018 0.8619 41
2017 0.834 65
2016 0.8341 54
2015 0.8447 49
2014 0.8337 46
2013 0.8604 26
2012 0.8498 46
2011 0.8224 49
2010 0.8418 51
Interestingly, the 2018 class had a really good average rating (slightly higher than that 2013 class). Good news for us is that 15 of those signees are still on the roster including Alston Orji (.9103), Cam Johnson (.9070), and Brendon Harris (.8907).

Re: New Commit - Darren Agu
Obviously, the recruiting rank for this class is a premature. Hard to compare this current year's rank mid cycle to that of a final product from 2013 or 2018. This class has surged up to 25 because we've had a flurry of early-ish commits.alabamacommodore wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 3:00 pm The class is looking pretty good comparative to previous classes. That said, if we can land a couple of our actual 4-star targets, it will solidify this class as a top 30 or even top 20 . It doesn't take much to move the needle when you have a great foundation like ours. There are a couple of our commits who might climb after a strong senior season. Especially like our RB from IL whose recruiting rankings had to suffer due to his more than usual COVID disruptions.
Again, I don't live and die by these rankings other than the good vibe, publicity, and momentum it creates. It's just fun.

Agreed on the premature nature of comparing rankings. I was more interested in the average ratings. It's nice to see that the average rating of each commit is rising. Hopefully, it will get even better.BILTMORE wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 3:55 pmObviously, the recruiting rank for this class is a premature. If our training/coaching is elite level as is being touted, that's much more important than recruiting rankings. But it all starts with getting talent in the building.

Another anchor dropped a little while ago (Clark Lea tweet). Definitely some positive momentum going on.

I have to stop you there. Something is wrong with this picture.alabamacommodore wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 1:10 pm Darren Agu ... had great offer list including Alabama....
Alabama does not recruit 3-star players. If the Crimson Tide offered a scholly to my grandma she would instantly be updated to at least a 4-star.

Highlight reel is impressive. He's quick. Can stop and change directions on a dime. I expect he will create headaches for the oppsosition.Seadog73 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:28 pm Here's what Saturday Down South said about Agu:

Not true. They have one now out of seven commits.Versus75 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 5:59 pmI have to stop you there. Something is wrong with this picture.alabamacommodore wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 1:10 pm Darren Agu ... had great offer list including Alabama....

Interesting - Bama's lone 3* is ranked on 247 at the same number as our two highest rated recruits.

A number of these recruits have commented on the proposed facility improvements as entering into their decision. I wonder if they are being shown things that we haven’t seen yet?
