That was a lot of whistling even for Preacher. I suppose he may have gone nuts, but I suspect a Miss State fan is parodying him.

I have never understood his appeal, but most of my fellow VU fans seem to defend him. I've been watching Vanderbilt baseball on mute for years.

Y'all just don't get it. The opposing pitchers HATE IT, especially when they get tired or come in a pressure situation. Notice when the whistling is its most intense, good things happen for the Vandyboys.

I thought you were going to say you hit mute because you couldn't stand to listen to that idiot Tom Hart, ESPN's most worthless play-by-play guy. When Zach King replaced Fellows, Hart was talking about Casey Mize or someone unrelated to our game and didn't even say King's name until he had already thrown a pitch. What a bush-leaguer Tom Hart is.

I'm not so sure.

It would be hard to classify losing a home super regional game on a walk-off home run a "a good thing."

Whistler is a pain in the @55 and most VU fans can't stand him.

Guy is a total clown show. Low class individual with complete disregard for others. Vanderbilt has always prided itself on carrying themselves with class, being different from the masses, but what we have here is an individual who has shattered that image in the eyes of most everyone who follows college baseball.

A VU fan sitting next to me said as long as the Whistlers (yes more than 1) whistle he will never come back. By the way what happened to our cheerleader VandyLance. We could use him - our crowd was quiet except for Whistlers unless something big happened. We need to boost team when they need it.

I did notice that lots of people seemed to be rhythmically clapping in response to the whistling, so it seems like a significant number were not so bothered and were willing to go along with it.

It's obnoxious. No other way to describe it. Both in person and on telecasts. Personally, I don't think it's as much of a benefit as some here say.

I don't care how many offer up a defense of him, he annoys me so much I turn off any game the first time I hear him!!

I know people who actively root against us because of him. I can’t say if I were in their position that I wouldn’t do the same.

He needs to shut up or leave. I don’t want to hear about how good a fan he is. He is an obnoxious jerk.

I wish a couple of top of the players would tell coach that they would never play were they had to here that for three years. It is a disgrace to Vanderbilt. Every umpire and coach in this league hates that crap. I to turned off the sound with that and all that bull about the bananas.

It's obnoxious!!!! I don't see it serving any purpose. When you play most noise is blocked out especially a pitcher! This guy needs to Stop! Not fair to fans at the game or watching TV telecast!!

My thought as well. I stood it until the 5th inning, when they both began talking ad nauseum about the Mangum wedding, & then I muted them for the remainder of the game.

Bonus: No Whistler either!

It’s fantastic and working!!! There was a time tonight when there were at least five whistlers at the same time!!! Catch the enthusiasm or not but we’re winning!!! It crosses generations and is catching on ( whistle booth is set up for tomorrow) for the little ones to learn!!!

The crowd was much better tonight than yesterday. Team fed off of us you could tell. Do whatever it takes to win tomorrow - even whistle.

If we condone the Whistler, next thing you know we'll be ringing cowbells & carrying giant bananas! There's no bottom to this iniquitousness.
