Parker Noland named SEC Co-Player of the Week

Post by admin »

SEC Baseball Weekly Honors – March 27, 2023

Co-Player of the Week: Jac Caglianone, Florida

Florida’s Jac Caglianone went 11-for-18 (.611/.650/1.333) on the week as the Gators went 4-0 and swept No. 13 Ole Miss on the road. He totaled four home runs, one double, eight RBI, five runs and an SEC-leading 24 total bases. Caglianone homered three total times in Saturday's doubleheader against the Rebels, including one in each game. He homered again in Sunday's finale to move his nation-leading total to 17 home runs. Caglianone had four hits and three RBI in the win at Florida State on Tuesday.

Co-Player of the Week: Dylan Crews, LSU

LSU’s Dylan Crews led the top-ranked Tigers to three wins in four games last week, including an SEC series victory over third-ranked Arkansas. He batted .625 (10-for-16) in four games with four homers, nine RBI and nine runs. Crews homered once in each of the four games the Tigers played, and he also walked three times and was hit by a pitch, which contributed to his .700 on-base percentage for the week. In the Tigers’ SEC series victory over Arkansas, Crews batted .615 (8-for-13) with three homers, seven RBI, seven runs, a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.308 slugging percentage.

Co-Player of the Week: Parker Noland, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt’s Parker Noland led the SEC with 14 RBI in three games last week, helping the Commodores to a sweep at Mississippi State. Noland became the fifth player in SEC history to hit two grand slams in a single game and totaled a Vanderbilt-record 11 RBIs in Friday’s win at Mississippi State, matching the SEC record. He tallied 18 total bases in the series and was intentionally walked twice. Noland scored six times and slugged 1.200 while guiding Commodores to the three-game sweep.

Pitcher of the Week: Noah Hall, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Noah Hall moved to 5-0 on the season by going seven innings and scattering just five hits and a run while walking one and striking out 10 against No. 15 Missouri. He retired 11 straight hitters to end his outing and achieved double-digit strikeouts for the third time in his Carolina career. He allowed just one runner past second base to lower his season ERA to 2.35. Hall is eighth in the SEC in ERA, ninth in strikeouts and first in both wins and innings pitched.

Freshman of the Week: Ethan Petry, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Ethan Petry homered in each of the wins against No. 15 Missouri and produced the game-winning hit in a 5-4, 12-inning win on Saturday night against the Tigers. Petry homered in the third inning and added a single in the fifth, but it was his reaching on a strikeout, wild pitch in the ninth that allowed Carolina to come from behind and defeat Missouri, 9-8. In game three, he homered in the eighth to tie the game at 4. Then, with the bases loaded in the 12th, his single up the middle gave Carolina its second walk-off win of the weekend.

Three guys had a great week. Let's not offend anyone by picking only one of them for player of the week. Why have the award if everybody wins?

If we had a pitcher with two no hitters, they'd find a way to make it a co-player of the week. Sometimes you have to just hate the SEC.
