Bisons 9-14 on the young season, but playing a difficult schedule.

Won 2 of 3 versus Notre Dame (which took 2 of 3 from Louisville this weekend), but 0-7 versus SEC teams.

Do the DLU-Belmont-APSU-Tech, etc. coaches just appreciate being invited to play a highly ranked DI team? Odds are they will lose, and very possibly lose badly. Or is it personal: that Corbin is just so well liked and thought of? I truly don't know the answer, if there is one.

I suspect the answer is, all of the above. Corbin has relationships with all these guys, and it's great experience for the players. It's cheap, too (the cost of a bus ride and no overnight expenses), and they occasionally do win.

We lost to Lipscomb once and Belmont twice in 2015, a year that ended with Vanderbilt finishing #2 to Virginia in the College World Series.

I think there was a four-week stretch in 2018 when Vandy lost midweek games to EKU, Lipscomb, Belmont, and MTSU.

A ticket bought at the Horizon Park will only get you a ticket exchange for another Sounds game. It will not be honored by Vanderbilt tonight.

Vandy loaded bases twice in 1st with 1 out. Score only 1 run. Coulda, shoulda been more.

Cunningham started, very strong 1st inning.
Carter in to pitch the 2nd, trouble consistently throwing strikes, has walked 2 of first 3 hitters. Sigh...

Nice catch by EBjr on a soft, short fly to right-center and pop to Diaz at 3rd and Carter gets out of trouble. 1-0 Vandy to bottom 2.

Carter out for his 3rd inning (after Cunningham pitched the 1st). Much better in 3rd, 3-up-3-down, and Ks first 2 guys in 4th with a fastballs on the black and gets 3rd out on soft grou der to 1st. Hasn't been sharp, but thrown strikes when he's needed to.

Meanwhile, Vandy offense leaves a couple more on base in the 3rd, still 1-0 Vandy.
