Yesterday’s MSU starter entered the game with a 2.25 ERA and left at 4.37.

Today’s starter, Gartman, comes in at 6.75.

Let’s see if we can pump up that number a bit.

He was sharp.in the 1st, very tight breaking ball. A couple good plays by the State 3B helped him

It's a 3B's game so far. Sweet pick of a short hop by Diaz gets the final out 5-3. Owens strong in the 1st, 2 Ks and 2 softly hit balls.

Ball called a strike there. Hope our pitcher gets some of those.

Wasn't even close, was it? Even the MSU announcers commented on "the biggest strike zone [they've] seen in the SEC this year"

Owens didn't on his 3rd pitch of the game, a fastball at the bottom of the strike zone called a ball.

I don't understand sacrificing with no outs and a runner at 2nd. I do appreciate the gift out, however.

5 balls hit by MSU so far, but only one, the leadoff double, was hit hard. Owens left the pitch hit for a double over the middle of the plate. Otherwise, throwing well.

I think Diaz is batting too high in the lineup. He should be 8 or 9.

Were our guys up too late worrying about tornados? Looks like they are still asleep.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Vastine’s defense thus far.

I think our infield looks as good or better than when Swanson was here.

This ump has a large strike zone, particularly on breaking balls...until he doesn't. He has frustrated Owens at least twice on what looked like strike 3 calls, but weren't called.

Polk just took two balls 8 inches outside and they were called strikes. Ump on the take or blind?

He has, no doubt, been very inconsistent so far, much to State's advantage.

State's TV camera work and production are frustrating. They always seem 2-3 beats behind the play, or showing the wrong part of a play.
