When is the first day of classes for Vandy? I guess that would be the drop dead date for Kumar to return if he wanted to come back. Not expecting it, just hoping.

To me he was screwed over by the Mets because they wanted to reduce the signing bonus they originally agreed upon, and maybe because they wanted to put Scott Boras in his place. Shame on the Mets. They are an unclass organization. If I were a high level player I would tell them I am back to school, screw you.

The twitter link seems dated on Aug 1. May still be accurate, and would make sense, but is old news. One mentions "independent league" ; what are these, pay scales , quality of competition , etc, ? Maybe the NIL crap would make coming back to school feasible both financially and competitively .

Meanwhile, nothing from Corbs. Is the press to stupid or scared to ask him?

Corbin won't say anything until Kumar's camp does, and right now Kumar's camp is being led by Scott Boras. Boras will either go into next year's draft off of private workouts, or he may get a few starts with an Independent league and re-enter.
I expect 30 teams (minus the Mets) will have a look at Kumar's elbow before the draft and a deal will be done with somebody in advance.

There is a better chance of Kumar Patel escaping from Guantanamo and pitching on West End next spring.

Usually people who escape from Cuba go straight to MLB, not college…

If you saw the movie, obviously he took the "scenic route" at every turn.
