Not a good start...HBP leadoff man, slow roller single to left between the 5-6 hole, 1st & 3rd. 6-4-3 DP scores the first run, 1-0 EKU. Colonels challenging the out at 1st...bang-bang close.

Call upheld, nothing indisputable to overturn it...though we've seen how little that means from earlier in the season. 5-3 groundout, to bottom 1.

EBjr giant bouncer fielded by pitcher makes it an easy out. Clears the pitcher it would've been a hit. Young bunts right back to pitcher, another easy out, though dude seemed to throw a slider to the 1B. Keegan Ks on a breaking ball far into the LH batters box, but catcher can't block it, Keegs on 1B. But alas, Bulger lines out to the warning track in right. 1-0 EKU heading to 2nd.

Strong 2nd inning by Schultz, come backer and 2 Ks. After 5 sluggish games of offense, this team needs to get going!!!

CJ leadoff single, Noland ugly swinging K on ball high and far outside. Pitch wasn't even close. CJ takes 2nd on a passed ball. Good news, Thomas back in RF! And he muscles a triple to the fence if right-center, 1-1 game!

Can't get him home, Romero Ks on a change and Gonzo bounces out straight up the middle, directly into the shift. To the 3rd.

Schultzie got the first 2 easy, then gave up a double and walk before a pop up to 1B. Strong then shaky. Classic Schultz.

EBjr hard out to deep right, Young soft liner over 1B, hustled to 2nd for a 1 out double. Boys need to drive in some runs...and Keegan does, single thru the 5-6 hole and Young hustles home, 2-1 Vandy! Coach visits the mound.

Bulger looking K on pitch that flirted with the outside corner. CJ follows with soft single to RF that allows Keegan to go to 3rd. Lefty coming in from EKU bullpen. Need some more runs!!!

[Levon]

Noland walks, bases loaded with 2 outs for Thomas. Soft ground ball to 2B, steps on the bag, bases left full. Sigh...

Schultz grooves his 53rd pitch, big fly just eludes Thomas' glove, Colonel leadoff to right. 2-2.

[Levon]

Next 2 guys out on long flies to CF, then gets 3rd out on looking K on sweet breaking ball. Schultz is likely at the end of his night...we'll see.

Romero leadoff line drive single to CF. Gonzo hot shot to short gets lead runner. Poor throw to 2nd prevented the DP, and then EBjr gets plunked in the back when squares to bunt and has nowhere to hide. 1st & 2nd, 1 out. Young needs a base knock.

Young swinging K, Gonzo called safe at 3rd on double steal. Challenge overruled the call (Correctly). Vandy baseball is more and more spelled L-O-B. Yet another sigh.

Schultz back out for 5th, Ks the side, his 4th straight strikeout! 2-2 to bottom 5.

After a couple infield singles (CJ beat one out with replay help), Noland drops his 4th HR just over the Monster in left. Then Romero beat out a bunt against the shift...he looked to sprinting in slow motion...flashes biggest smile of the season when called safe. It was one of the best snapshots of the season ;-)
Gonzo follows with RBI double off the Monster (Romero chugging around the bases and sliding home elicited a huge laughing smile from EBjr waiting at home). That was just a fun inning to watch...unless you're a Colonel. 6-2 Dores heading to 6th, Schultz back out, up to his 80th pitch.

2 groundouts to Gonzo, an infield single deep in the hole at short, and then Schultzie Ks the 3rd out on his 101st pitch. Very nice night for Sgt Schultz!

Young grounds out to 3rd, Keegan lines out to SS. Both balls hit on the nose, very nice play by 3rd baseman on Young's ball. Bulger swinging K on nice breaking ball. Still 6-2 heading to 7th.

Big Christian Little in to pitch the 7th. Terrific diving catch by EBjr on dying line drive to center for 1st out. The young man can play!
