Congrats to Sam Selman

I just realized that he picked up his first MLB win on August 25th. Way to go!

Also saw during a Sunday baseball telecast that Sam is 2nd in the Majors in % of hard hit balls at 10+%. I think that is good stat.

A. I believe former teammate Mike Yaz scored the tying run in that gamebefore a 2-run homer by Asoka I won it.

B. I’m not familiar with the “Hard Hit Balls” stat, but I would think a guy should want to be way down that list rather than second. Either way, it’s not likely a telling stat with only 12 innings. I DO like the 15 SO versus 4 BB.

I thought the same thing at first, that they were showing the worst ones. But most category ratings are not going to show the worst , but the best on down. I'm not familiar with this analytic, but I think it is a good thing, although with a small sample size. Someone that is aware of these new stats can tell us if these are good numbers or bad ones for Sam.

A hard hit ball rate of 10 percent for a pitcher is phenomenal. As far as I can tell, the season leaders are usually in the low 20s.
