Sonny is in All-Star form. He's 4-1 with an ERA of 2.05 in 30.2 IP with 45 Ks versus 9 BBs. Opposing batters are hitting only .173 against him.

Unfortunately, Kyle Wright took another loss last night for the Braves. He's now 0-3 with an ERA of 7.20, 16 BBs and only 12 Ks, and an opponent BA of .288 against him.

Yeah, Sonny is doing extremely well. Wright, on the other hand, has stunk. As a Braves fan and a Vandy fan, it's been painful to watch Kyle pitch. With the Braves' starting rotation in such a shambles, he is being given every opportunity to make a positive impact. But so far, ugh. In his major league career, he has 35 walks in 40 innings, and his WHIP is 2.2. It's still early in his career, and the Braves "say" that their still "high" on him, but his performance will have to improve a lot, and fast, to stay in the Bigs.

Sonny leads the majors in ...

... Wins (4) and he leads the NL in Strikeouts (45) in just 30.0 Innings Pitched.

Braves starting pitchers are a combined 3-8. Max Fried (3-0) has all of the wins. Wright (0-3) but third on staff in ERA among pitchers with at least two starts.

Braves relievers are a combined 10-2.

But no mention of Curt Casali ...

... whose name was also called in the 2011 draft and is now with the Reds.

Curt caught the opening day game as Sonny Gray and the Reds beat Detroit. He has started 9 games overall, but since regular Tucker Barnhart returned to the starting lineup Casali has been playing about one-third of the time.
