September Call-Ups - Fulmer and Flaherty
Of course, Fulmer has been up and down all year with the White Sox. You have to love Ryan Flaherty. He keeps plugging away since his major league debut in 2012 after toiling in the minors for four years before that. Since his MLB debut he has pretty much been up and down between AAA and the majors every year. He had 414 at bats in the minors this year before his September call-up. I just love his passion for the game and that 1) he is not ready to quit and 2) he keeps getting the big-league call-ups. He is the kind of guy you see being a big league manager one day.
Re: September Call-Ups - Fulmer and Flaherty
Just curious, how does salary work for a guy like Flaherty? Does he get a prorated part of the season when he goes back and forth to the minors?
Re: September Call-Ups - Fulmer and Flaherty
Flaherty's $1mm salary is well over the major league minimum of @$550,000.00 so his pay doesn't change for being called up. If a minor leaguer with a salary under the MLB minimum gets called up then he gets a prorated salary of the league minimum for however long he's on the roster.

Am I correct that each game is 1/162 of that $550,000 and not 1/365? $3,333.33 per game plus daily allowance for food and travel isn't too bad a deal, but $1,506.85 would not be nearly as attractive (but still better than most of us would get).DoreZag wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 9:02 pmFlaherty's $1mm salary is well over the major league minimum of @$550,000.00 so his pay doesn't change for being called up. players also become vested in pension after 43 days of MLB service, 34k/yr at age 62. just one day of service qualifies them for some sort of lifetime health benefits. Ultimately, after 5?years,, fully vested, 210K?/yr
