The Nashville Rag
Just checked the rag and they HAD to run a story, after VU won the regular season SEC Championship in baseball, that VU is tied for next to last in all time SEC baseball winning percentage. And I WILL post this on the baseball forum, as promised on the FB forum.

Re: The Nashville Rag
I know they ran an article on us winning the SEC regular season championship, but it’s sad that they’d have to counter it by focusing on the distant past and the past as a whole rather than on how we’ve worked to become successful in recent years. Did they at least mention what’s happened in the past sixteen years or so?
Looking at that recent period, we’re in the upper tier in the conference and each year such as this helps improve that statistic a little bit.

Yes, the article says that Vandy blitzed the league this year and is a power of late.StarTraveler wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:24 pm . Did they at least mention what’s happened in the past sixteen years or so?
This was not written by the Tennessean. Also, SEC baseball has been around for a long, long time, and Vandy wasn't a factor till Corbin came around. We should be proud that this program went from absolute nothing to title contender every year.

It's not entirely accurate to say VU wasn't a factor until Corbin arrived, since we won titles in 1973, 1974, and 1980, but it had been a few decades.Titans309fan wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:28 pmYes, the article says that Vandy blitzed the league this year and is a power of late.StarTraveler wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:24 pm . I was thinking that, too. Coach Schmittou had several very good years before he became involved in the Sounds, and Coach Mewbourne was even a bit over .500 for his tenure as a whole.Good2BGold wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 11:15 amIt's not entirely accurate to say VU wasn't a factor until Corbin arrived, since we won titles in 1973, 1974, and 1980, but it had been a few decades.Titans309fan wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:28 pmYes, the article says that Vandy blitzed the league this year and is a power of late.StarTraveler wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:24 pm . Thank you Good2BGold, I think you are correct. I don't believe the coach before Corbin was a bad one, it is just that Vandy facilities compared to the rest of the conference were awful and that made it harder to compete!Good2BGold wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 11:15 amIt's not entirely accurate to say VU wasn't a factor until Corbin arrived, since we won titles in 1973, 1974, and 1980, but it had been a few decades.Titans309fan wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:28 pmYes, the article says that Vandy blitzed the league this year and is a power of late.StarTraveler wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:24 pm .
