How does a 10-0 Drake Fellows not even sniff second team. Ok, so his ERA is not fabulous: He is 10-0!!!! Did I mention he is 10-0?

Fellows was good. And he's one of OUR VandyBoys, so I'll support him. But one of the top 4 pitchers in the league?
Nine (9.0) offensive runs per start helps a guy get to 10-0.

Drake probably would not have made the third team if there was one. Statistically, at least, he not even the best Vanderbilt starting pitcher. Still, he may have gotten a couple votes as the undefeated opening night starter for the best team in the conference. Has the complete voting been made public, Don?

I thought Ethan Paul deserved consideration. But Fellows, though he did a nice job for us, not with that ERA.

Paul should have gained some recognition, but the Casey Martin campaign started early in the year despite being the worst defensive SS in the league somewhere around the .900 mark. That's awful. Paul has been very productive, particularly in the clutch, and his defense has been very solid by any measure.

I agree. I don't know how Casey Martin (.311/15/53, .907 fielding percentage) was selected for the second team over Paul (.327/8/64, .974 fielding percentage). In fact, it's a little puzzling that Grae Kessinger (.300/8/37, .954 fielding percentage) was selected over Ethan for first team SS.oakparkDore wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 7:46 am I thought Ethan Paul deserved consideration. Kessinger hit .405 in SEC games, which was first among mortals not named Austin Martin. The vote didn't exclude non-conference games, but the people who voted saw Kessinger raking every week. He really didn't produce much with the bat for 2.5 seasons after being highly ranked, but he definitely made himself some money in the last two months.Good2BGold wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 10:16 amI agree. I still think Paul was the guy. In SEC games only, Paul did indeed lead the league with 36. Bleday had 30.
Martin was the guy who probably got more reputation votes than anyone. That fielding percentage is atrocious.
