U.S. Plays for FIBA U17 Crown Today at 1 CST

Link below if you're looking for a basketball fix while beating the heat.

U.S. against Spain in the finals. The U.S. team has Vandy targets Jaloni Cambridge ('24) and Kennedy Ume ('23). Hannah Hidalgo ('23), who coach Ralph and Ashley Earley are following on twitter, is also on the team. Hidalgo and Ume both play summer ball in the Philly Rise organization, which is where Vandy found current freshman Ryanne Allen. The coaches also follow Jadyn Donavan, who some say is the best athlete of the bunch.

Coach Demille is in Hugary for the tournament, though I suspect NCAA recruiting rules limit or prevent direct contact with the players at this time, but not coaches or parents. Not sure how that applies to international players. There are many good ones. Today's opponent, Spain, has a good post player and several talented guards.

Don't expect a close game. Yesterday's 30-point win over Canada was the closest game for the U.S. in the tournament.

1st play of the game, Cambridge got a steal and a layup(sound familiar). Second possession she scores again. Then, another steal…all within the first 1 1/2 minutes! USA wins 84-62 over an excellent team from Spain. Cambridge had 16 points and 9 assists. She was selected on the 5 player all-tourney team with one other American (Watkins) who was MVP…..my guess, it was a very close vote!
