UT-Chattanooga at Vandy, 11-30-21, 7 p.m.

Game on SEC+. The Mocs are struggling at 1-6 on the season with a big loss to Belmont and an even bigger loss to Tennessee Tech to open the season. We beat them by one last year on their home court.

If we play defense with the intensity we had for nine of the 12 quarters in the Virgin Islands, we should be fine.

Something I’d really like to see tonight is to reduce the turnovers, especially by our guards. Cambridge (33), Moore (22), Flournoy (15) and Bartram (14) have combined for 84 turnovers, an average of 10.5 per game. As a team we’re averaging 21. So many of them are careless passes.

The turnovers is one of the most baffling stats, maybe just to me. The tradition goes well back into Balcomb's tenure. I'd be surprised if the average per game is less than 20 over the last 15 years.

Btw, pretty good 1st qtr.

Really glad to see that. IMO, 12 a game is sort of over/under. But 0 is of course, excellent.

In WBB I think anything other 15 is good. If we could get to less than 20 per game on a regular basis for the rest of the non-conf season, that'd be a step in the right direction.

Not much to criticize that half.

Do we know what Cambridge's tech was for?

46-23 at the half, those last 3 points on a halfcourt buzzer beater by Flournoy, quite a shot!

The announcer said it was for taunting. I don't know if he actually knows or is just guessing.

69-38 at the end of Q3. Cambridge with 15 points, Flournoy with 12, and Smith and Moore each with 10. Fourteen assists and 7 TOs for the game.

Yes, i love 7 TOs. My second fav stat (well, my third with the final score of 91-61 being the first) is six players scoring in double figures.

It’s really difficult to judge this game. We won’t play many teams lacking in ball handling skills as UTC has shown. If you take away the steals and look at half court offense, it wasn’t a very impressive outing. I hope we don’t develop some bad habits when games are this easy. I believe Shea was not too pleased with the game, especially giving wide open 3s. I saw some really good things from the Frosh and hope they continue to improve. I think Flournoy displays some great point guard skills, in addition to her scoring and Moore has a scorer’s mentality and hits open shots. Sasha has been a beast, but it’s going to get much more difficult during league play.

P.S. Does anyone else think Moore looks like Morgan Batey?

She is a dead ringer for Morgan Batey. They resemble so much. I do like our freshmen. Sasha Washington’s playing style reminds me a lot of Kayla Overbeck. I think she will be a better player than Overbeck was. A good group of young ladies 👍

They are on an upward trajectory. The limiting factor for this team is overall talent and experience. I think they will continue to improve but overall talent and skill level will create a lower ceiling for them. I see 7-8 possibly winnable games in the conference so we will see how many they can muster. Total wins will not define the success of this team but continued competitiveness will.
