Survey of Coaches Mentions Coach Ralph and Vandy

Post by MikeADore »

Two years ago, the folks at High Post Hoops sent out an anonymous survey to 235 D1 women's coaches to get answers to nine questions. A couple of the results deal with Vandy and coach Ralph, although there was no way to know the two would be connected at the time of the survey:

Which current assistant coach will be the most successful head coach?

1. Shea Ralph, UConn
2. Niele Ivey, Notre Dame
3. Jan Jensen, Iowa

What is the toughest coaching job in the country?
1. Tennessee
2. Vanderbilt
3. Any mid-major in a one-bid league

Honorable mentions:
Ole Miss
UConn after Geno

No surprise that the coaches were high on coach Ralph's potential as a head coach. It might be surprising to some that Vandy is considered such a tough job. I don't think it's any mystery why since it's an academic school in a conference filled with sports factories. The fact that it's tough doesn't mean it's not a good job, obviously.

It might also be surprising that they consider UT to be the toughest job. I have no doubt tha has to do with the fan base. They demand Pat Summitt results with no Pat Summitt. Seems the coaches think UConn will be in the same boat when Geno leaves.
