No Vandy commitments made this list, although Vandy did finish second (but no cigar) for Luke Brown...

Luke Brown OT Henry County - four-star, committed to Arkansas

Ayden Bussell OL Mt. Juliet - three-star committed to Tennessee

Drake Carlson DL Father Ryan - three-star, committed to Purdue

Caleb Herring LB Riverdale - four-star, No. 1 player in state, committed to Tennessee where he will join brother Elijah

Ty Lockwood TE Independence - four-star, committed to Ohio State

Kenny Minchey QB Pope John Paul II - four-star, committed to Pittsburgh

Jacob Page WR Blackman - three-star, uncommitted

Chris Parson QB Ravenwood - four-star, recent Florida State decommitment

Shamar Porter, WR Ensworth- four-star, committed to Kentucky

Marcel Reed, QB MBA - three-star, committed to Ole Miss

Nathan Robinson, DL Greenbrier - three-star, committed to Tennessee

The Tennessean has an article on WR Jacob Page, who transferred from Ensworth to Blackman for his senior season...

Page has numerous Power 5 offers, including Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Purdue, Washington, Memphis and Indiana.

He hasn't narrowed down his choices yet, but has taken visits to Tennessee, Vandy, South Carolina, Washington and Clemson.

I was hoping we could do better with hometown coach. Hate to see UT hauling in the mid-state players.

QB Chris Parson of Ravenwood visited Vandy a week or so ago and had the condescending comment in the Tennessean, "I was impressed, actually." But he has announced a Top 4 that doesn't include Vandy. So it does now appear as though Vandy will go 0-for-12 this year with the Tennessean Dandy Dozen.

However, Vandy does have three commits that they like a lot from Nashville-area high schools (WR Junior Sherrill of Lipscomb, WR London Humphries of CPA, and LB Ethan Crisp of Mount Juliet), in addition to the kicker just committed from Knoxville. So it's not as though Lea's staff is ignoring the state.

Also, just because a player appears on the Tennessean's list doesn't mean he's Vandy material academically. The piece from the Athletic indicates Vandy is looking for student-athletes with at least a 3.0 GPA.

And my guess is that a 3.0 is just stable stakes. It likely takes more than that (depending on the school such as a 3.0 at MBA may mean more than a 3.0 at Brentwood High) given the way grading works these days.

Our recruits aren't Rhodes Scholars , but they are often pretty academically talented.
