A stupid question that will subject me to ridicule ...
...for not knowing. Despite that, here goes:
How is it that new recruits are able to enroll in January? Don't they have to finish high school first? Or are they transfers?

Can't scamper or slither...but I used to swim.

If I am not mistaken, some kids graduate High School early. They get their required hours finished at the end of the 1st semester.

Many high schools are on a block schedule, where it's structured more like college: Classes last one semester.
If they get their credits done by the end of the first semester of their senior year, they can be done

Here is my question: A couple of years ago VU denied admission to a transfer in January, even though he had good grades, saying they couldn't assimilate into the student body because there was no orientation for them to go through. Well, if a rising junior couldn't assimilate, how can a freshman 17-18 year old do it? Sounds like more VU gobbleteegook.

I question your spelling of "gobbleteegook". Otherwise I agree.commadore wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:19 pm Here is my question: A couple of years ago VU denied admission to a transfer in January, even though he had good grades, saying they couldn't assimilate into the student body because there was no orientation for them to go through. I think it's a shame to give up all or a part of one's senior year in high school. Kids grow up soon enough. I thought my senior year in high school was pretty fun. Of course I wasn't a football jock aching to get a jump on my football career, so different strokes and all that.

I was involved in a lawsuit by a player who complained that he did not get special concessions to graduate when previous players had been given dubious credits so that they could graduate early and go to spring practice. Funny business to accommodate such players was commonplace. "Independent study" and so forth.
