Marve played for new Hokies coach Brent Pry in his senior year at Vanderbilt.

This may help cement Daniel Long, as Chris was his lead recruiter at FSU, his "warm" school, along with Oregon. And we all know about the coaching change at Oregon. Still showing Daniel as "warmer" with VU. But VT had offered him, but he is "cool" on that.

And I am thrilled for Chris. Couldn't happen to a better person.

Agree
I've met Chris a couple of times. Great dude and I believe will be a great DC.
I got the sense he really wanted the DC position when Tarver arrived. Regardless of Tarver's meh performance, Marve was pretty young both as a person and a coach at that time. I don't fault Mason for passing over Chris then, but I give major props to Marve for being ambitious enough to chart his path elsewhere.
I'll be watching Vt going forward and pulling for their D.

Coaches Brent Pry, Chris Marve, and the Hokies open Vanderbilt's season in 2024 at Nissan Stadium.

That oughta be fun. And I'm so happy for Chris. Love seeing our guys do well for themselves. I wish him much luck (except for that 2024 season opener).

There could've been a conversation at some point. But if CCL wanted to go a different direction, I can't fault him. He does have three other former VU players on the staff so I think he has done a good job there.

Much as we are all fans of Chris, 31 years old is very young to be a coordinator, and Pry is taking a big risk to hire him for that position. Pry obviously thinks he can groom Marve into the position (Pry had become a first-tier DC himself), and for Marve, it's a golden opportunity to move up the ranks and make the big bucks.

Do you mean Daniel Martin? I couldn’t locate Daniel Long.
