Let's get one thing straight, Georgia fans...
Vanderbilt, despite what you think or want to think, did not back out of the game last year because it was afraid it might lose. Vanderbilt, under the SEC's Covid protocol in place at that time, simply did not have enough players available to make it a fair fight.
Yes, it is probably true that there were some Vandy fans on message boards that thought playing the game was a bad idea. Yes, it is true that Vandy's numbers were down because of injuries and players who had left the team, in addition to the positive Covid tests the team started getting during December. Vanderbilt had been VERY close to not having enough to play Tennessee on December 12, according to interim coach Todd Fitch. (Anyone recall that a member of Vandy's women's soccer team was hastily recruited to kick two PAT's in that game?)
I don't have the stats handy, but quite a few SEC games were postponed or canceled during the regular season. Just about every team had issues with Covid during 2020. Vandy was able to avoid having to cancel a game until the final week. The Vanderbilt schedule was jerked around because of issues other teams had with Covid.
Vanderbilt's players desperately wanted to play that UGA game and not end the season without a win. Unfortunately, when the Covid tests came in at the beginning of the week, there just weren't enough of them available to make that trip.
Go ahead, try to get your team extra-fired up this week over this perceived slight. All's fair in motivating your team for an SEC football game. (Vandy's players will be sky-high too, with the chance to knock off a Top Five team.) Be as mad as you want to be about the way the season ended. But don't fool yourselves into thinking Vandy's scholarship athletes didn't want to play yours last year. It's just not true. (Honestly, I think you're just still sore that your overrated 2020 team couldn't even win its own division and ended up in the Peach Bowl... which it BARELY won over a non-P5 team.)

And further, how many SEC teams and Ooga rivals have won NCs since the Oogas' last one in ancient 1980, which you guys say you're ALWAYS in the running for (but never quite seem to make it)?
Hint: 19
Alabama 7 times, Florida 3 times, LSU 3 times, Clemson 3 times, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia Tech 1 each. LOL! Georgia Tech and Tennessee have won NCs more recently than the Oogas have!

I don't think it would have been as big a deal as it was (it certainly wasn't in most other places that had games canceled or postponed) except for (a) the retiring UGA AD expressing his faux outrage at it, and (b) this guy getting Dawg fans stirred up online: https://www.dawgnation.com/author/mike-griffith/.

Yep. Sports radio in Atlanta used those exact talking points in a segment Wednesday morning. It was totally inaccurate and was full of the usual easy cheap shots at us.

We've been getting our a$$e$ kicked up and down the field for all these years and that one particular game last year was going to be too much for us to handle?

Well, the best thing is to make them regret playing us this year...

Even a lowly Vanderbilt team coached by Derek Mason was able to defeat almighty Jawja, they should leave the SEC for the Sunbelt if they lose this weekend.

Exactly. Kirby "Smart" never has anything good to say about Vandy except for negative stuff like his fat butt had to walk 300 meters to get to our stadium or our stadium is not as good theirs.charlestonalum wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 11:03 amExactly: be careful what you ask for...dore74 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 10:39 am Maybe this is why they got so ticked off....https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/17801124

Shouldn't GA be asking for another forfeit this season as even a 100 point win will bring down their strength of schedule and RPI a bit by JUST PLAYING Vanderbilt. I just hope there are no major injuries tomorrow as we all know the likelihood of winning this game - it would rank up there with App St -vs- Michigan in terms of upsets. There are brighter days ahead - that's what I keep telling myself!

Easy explanation. A lot of people are really stupid. They don’t even try.

Don’t forget winning football games is the high point of their fans’ entire lives. Missing out on a beat down of an 0-9 VU team stings!!
Getting butt hurt over VU “ducking them” is one of the more ludicrous things I’ve heard in a while.
