Vanderbilt Football tweeted this today:
Given that other SEC teams occasionally play these intersectional games, 60 years seems like a long time for VU not to have played a Pac 12 team -- especially Stanford or Cal-Berkeley.
First Pac 12 opponent since 1961?!?

Re: First Pac 12 opponent since 1961?!?
Not only is this the first Pac-12 opponent we've played since 1961, it's only the second Pac-12 program we've ever played. The only other was UCLA, the 28-21 loss in '61 in Los Angeles.FayetteDore wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 3:38 pm Given that other SEC teams occasionally play these intersectional games, 60 years seems like a long time for VU not to have played a Pac 12 team -- especially Stanford or Cal-Berkeley.

That is pretty nuts. So much for using football to publicize our brand on the West Coast.

Re: First Pac 12 opponent since 1961?!?
I suspect there are only a small minority of the West Coast population that knows where Vanderbilt is even located. That is rather sad, and can only be blamed on a lack of effort to spread the message. I understand that academics is the prime objective of the university, but athletics can be a means to advance the notoriety and standing of an institution as well.
