GA has been a 40,500 sellout in the past. Over 8,000 shy for that game is telling. I guess even GA fans don't want to bother coming up for that game anymore.

So what is our average??

Re: Vanderbilt announced home attendance statistics 2021
I'm quite frankly surprised it was that high. I don't think our attendance will improve significantly until we put a more competitive team on the field. When you know there is no hope for a victory, it's easier to rationalize not coming to the games. That's what has been going on all season. After the ETSU game, except for UConn, there simply was going to be no hope for a win. With at least another 3 years before improvements to the stadium are completed, it looks as if the status quo will continue indefinitely.

If it makes us feel any better, Duke is averaging 16,417 per game through 5 games. The do have 2 home games left with Miami and Louisville, so they will probably come up some. But at least right now, we are beating Duke at something!
Wake Forest Averaged 28,721 through six games
Northwestern has averaged 30,679 through six games with one "Home Game" remaining against Purdue at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Re: Vanderbilt announced home attendance statistics 2021
if i'm not mistaken, durham/duke doesn't have a "lower broad scene" etc. to draw large numbers of opposing fans to town for a football weekend like nashburg/vu does. no question that boosts our attendance, even though it's the "wrong" folks.
Re: Vanderbilt announced home attendance statistics 2021
Historically, we have done better in terms of attendance than Duke, Northwestern and Wake. When you look at the money that those schools have put into their stadiums, it doesn't seem like they get much of a return. Wake should be a total sell out leading the ACC.

Don't discount the impact of a pandemic on attendance figures.DS2001 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 11:28 am I'm quite frankly surprised it was that high. Re: Vanderbilt announced home attendance statistics 2021
ETSU & UConn brought no fans so we know that we had early on 21k ticket holders in the seats. Ky had a total of 25k with a lot of KY fans. Our attendance reflects our performance but it's getting pretty sad. Next year ut is here coming off a bowl season. I'll be the other guy in black.

ETSU actually brought a lot more than I thought they would. It was almost as if they knew they were going to have a good season.

Always hopeful; rarely optimistic.

Re: Vanderbilt announced home attendance statistics 2021
It's more than a national embarrassment to report these figures given that Vandy is :
- In the SEC (undisputed best football conference in America)
- Largest city in the SEC (23rd largest city in the US according to WorldPopulationReview.com)
- Located in the South (hotbed of football with many vibrant high school programs and youth programs devoted to football)
I get the private school angle, small number of alumni and such but these numbers are on par with some FCS programs and in the bottom half of ALL of BCS programs (72nd from a report I recently viewed). We all know that these numbers are inflated quite a bit by opposing fans and tickets sold (not bodies in stadium) so it's actually even worse than reported.
I'm not sure about your situations but I can hardly ever get my family out to Vandy stadium so unless I go by myself, I have to recruit a friend or co-worker to tag along. The only thing that appeals to them are the $4 online prices and some tailgating. Better days are ahead is what I keep thinking but still waiting to see it.
