After a morning in which it appeared the Pac-12 would be saved, it now appears the conference has a grim future as Oregon and Washington leave for the Big Ten.

Might as well just go ahead and spin athletics off. The disconnect with the mission of universities is only increasing. Not saying that student athletes shouldn't share in the proceeds they generate (which we discuss ad infinitum) but NIL and the portal have already made star athletes in the big 3 ...

That was my initial reaction, too.

The rising junior hit .337 in his freshman season and .317 in his sophomore season while stealing 79 bases over two seasons. Not a lot of power, though--just 11 HRs and 14 doubles. He has mostly played RF.

Big loss IMHO. It's helped immeasurably to have someone with AD experience alongside Candice Lee during her tenure and during the Vandy United campaign. I hope they fill the position with someone who will contribute just as much to fundraising and revenue generation.
